My computer will not download anything.

My Windows 10 computer seems to have issues downloading things. We have sat through multiple support chats online and even took it to Best Buy to attempt to fix this issue. I just got the computer back and it still won't download anything. It was previously thought to have been an excessiive amount of games, but I have deleted all of that. I was told to check for viruses but even the virus detector won't seem to load. My internet connection is also fine, as every single other device in the house is able to function properly. I am frustrated as nothing like this has ever happened to my computer before, and frankly I have no idea how to fix it.

Good day! I'm Raniel. I understand your frustration regarding this issue and I'll do my best to help.

Just to clarify, did you make any changes to your machine before encountering this issue (like installing third party apps/antivirus, recent updates, etc..)? Do you also encounter it when you access your account via safe mode(with networking)?. Please see the steps under "From the sign-in screen": https://support.microsoft.com/help/12376/window...

Kindly perform the methods below to troubleshoot the issue:

    Method 1

You may temporarily turn off SmartScreen:

    1. On your search bar, type "App & Browser control" and open it
    2. Under "Check apps and files", set the option to Off, then check again

You may refer to this article as a guide: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5520-turn-o...

    Method 2

Temporarily turn off the controlled folder access setting as well:

    1. On your search bar, type "Controlled folder access" and open it
    2. Temporarily turn off the setting for Controlled folder access, then try again

Another option is to create a new user account(administrator) and copy your files to the new account (go through the steps under "My computer is in a workgroup") . Please refer to this article as a guide: https://support.microsoft.com/help/14039/window...

However, if the issue persist, kindly perform a repair install of your Windows which fixes the broken system files on your machine. Here is a guide: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repai...

There should be no worries in performing it since you will select the option to keep your files during the process.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
