Core Isolation and Memory Integrity not showing up

Anonymous

The Windows security icon in the taskbar tray is showing there are actions recommended. When I click on the icon Windows security says Memory Integrity is turned off and when I click the button to go to those settings I get a message saying page not available. When I go to device security on the sidebar I find no options of Core Isolation or Memory Integrity, just a message saying 'Standard Hardware Security not Supported'.

My system meets the requirements for device security and I have made sure TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and Virtualisation are all enabled and the BIOS Mode is set to UEFI.

What more can I do to enable Core Isolation and Memory Integrity?

Definitely, a bug in the update, no matter what I did I couldn't get the message to go away. Here is a fix that worked for me. If you can't see the core isolation tab you have to go into BIOS and enable SVM (Secure Virtual Machine or VM).

For MSI BIOS motherboards here is the process, (check your manufacturer for where to find and how it is labeled in BIOS)

    1. Restart your computer and keep pressing delete to open BIOS on the main screen you have to go into OC settings -> additional CPU features to find the setting click on the label, click enable and exit out of BIOS (it will ask you to save changes, click Yes).
    2. For other manufacturers follow their steps to enable in BIOS
    3. Once enabled in BIOS Core Isolation should show up under Device Security.
    4. Click on Core isolation details choose what you would like to enable--> Memory Integrity, Local Security Authority protection (definitely enable this, it will require a restart), Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist (once I enabled this to ""On" and restarted the button became greyed out and shows on)
    5. Restart you're computer
    6. You may still get the notification that your Local Security Authority protection is off, Your device may be vulnerable.
    7. Click Dismiss and reboot
    8. After rebooting you will notice this message went away and you will see the following. Your device meets requirements for enhanced hardware security. See below picture with yellow arrow

*See below the picture on the steps to access Device Security Information in Windows 11 (I have the most recent OS version 22HS, and OS Build 22621.1413)

For Windows 11 users how to get to Device Security

    • Click on the Windows icon and click on the gear setting icon
    • Click on the Privacy & Security Tab (left column 2nd from the last option)
    • Click on Windows Security (Right Column 1st entry)
    • Click on Open Windows Security
    • Click on Device Security (It will have a computer style icon in blue)
    • Once you do this is where Core Isolation will show up or there will be nothing until you do the above
    • Click on Core isolation details and this brings you to the tab to enable Local Security Authority protection

Based on Zadee's reply above and screen shot from Microsoft engineer, "these issues may come back after the next Windows Security update. It will go away again after a future Windows Security update." It should be fixed after an update since there was a Security Update that came out recently. Mine installed said update on 3/12/23. So hopefully the next Security Update fixes the issue again.

I am having the same issue and have build 22621.1413. As you can see all is good on my end but the problem is due to the issue above.

For fixing in the registry I have seen some state they fix the issue. I have attached a link that may help.

Hi, I have the same issue!

    W11 Pro 22H2, Build 22621.1344.

I bought a new PC, Core-i7 13700KF few weeks ago, so I'm perfectly fine with hardware.

Is there a way to fix this via registry editor?

Windows doesn't let me use an important driver for my USB DAC from LG...so I can't use my headphones with that DAC as before.

Thanks for reaching out! My name is, Zadee. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

There's a known bug right now with the Builds 22616+ regarding this and this has also been recognized by a MS Engineer. You can find this on the Feedback Hub to personally check it. Per the Engineer though, this will be fixed in a future Window Security Update.

    Hope this info helps.

    Best Regards,
