Windows 11 update enlarged my taskbar. How do I make it smaller again?

Hello All,

I minimized my taskbar months ago by way of editing the registry. About a week or so ago, I allowed Windows to update and after it restarted, my taskbar appears to have gone back to its original size.

I went back into the registry to once again to make the taskbar smaller but the value is already set to zero '0'. So that makes me believe that Windows never reverted the value back to '1' and if that is the case, that would mean that this new 'updated' size that I see here, is now the minimized size for the taskbar. And I really can't see that being the case because it's rather sizeable as you can see in the screenshot.

Whether I'm right or wrong in my assumption, I would like to know if anybody knows how to minimize the taskbar now? After Window's most recent update.

Much Thanks!

WB

    Hi Wayne,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

In the latest feature update (Moment 2) Microsoft re-programmed some of the Taskbar and the registry hacks that previously worked and the 3rd party utilities that previously worked to re-size the taskbar no longer work.

The registry entries are no longer checked, so the only way to resize the taskbar going forward will be if the developers of the 3rd party utilities are updated by their developers.

What the **** happened to the options available in Settings? Windows 10 you could easily choose which size you wanted in the options, what in the goddamn hell.

You can try this and see if it still works:

    1. Press STart
    2. Search "regedit" and open Registry Editor.
    3. Browse to this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
    4. Right-click the Advanced key, select New, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.
    5. Name the key "TaskbarSi"****and press Enter.
    6. Double-click the newly created DWORD and change its value to change taskbar size: 0=smallest 1=default/medium 2=largest
