the wifi itself is working.it works perfectly on my phone and on my laptop(if i am using a cable),but i can't even connect to any other wifi connection because its stuck on turned off(like when you manually turn it off with a switch).i tried rebooting it 3 times.
my wifi is stuck on turned off.how do i fix it ?
Hi
so my Wi fi is stuck on tuned off.it says its turned off and asks me to manually turn it on (it shows the other options too), well i know i can with the Wi fi switch button , but it does not work. i tried "turn wifi back on 1 hour later" but still that didn't work(so the switch isn't broken). i don't exactly know when the problem began because i have been using a cable for a while. i think it might be because of the new update, not sure. its windows 10,hp probook laptop.
anyways thanks in advance

This worked for me in Windows 10:
Computer Management
Device Manager
Network Adapters
Right-click on adapter eg NETGEAR A6100 WiFi Adapter
Properties
Power Management
Remove tick on 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'

2023-11-30T22:42:32+00:00 Hello,
I had a very similar issue arise with one of my HP 6730b laptops. The description of the wireless not being able to be turned on was just as described here. The image of what appears on the screen saying turn on manually and suggesting turn back on in 1 hour, 4 hour etc. appeared just as shown. The wireless could not be turned on and the option to do so was greyed out in the Settings panel when I entered Wi-fi in the search bar. No list of available networks would appear. and I could only connect to the internet using the ethernet connection with this laptop.
I tried all the troubleshooting suggestions I could find on the internet. I also took the wi-fi card out of the malfunctioning 6730b and used the wi-fi card from one of the other 6730b laptops that had the wi-fi working. That card made no difference in the malfunctioning 6730b so I put the wi-fi card back in its own 6730b and the wireless was working again in that donor laptop.
After I thought back over all the strategies I had tried - almost all of which were focused on the Windows 10 operating system - I decided that either the motherboard or the Bios was to blame. If something had been corrupted in the operating system on the drive being used in the troubled 6730b laptop, I thought I would use a clean install Windows 10 on a blank drive I have and placed in this troubled 6730b laptop. I found that the installation went smoothly with only one hitch during part of the installation - during the time zone setup part. The usual long drop down list of time zones did not appear. Instead, there was the screen shot of Wi-fi is turned off, turn on in 1 hour, 4 hour etc. I had never seen this appear in a clean installation before The installation completed, but the same problem appeared on the desktop - no wi-fi, only ethernet worked to connect to the internet. I thought maybe the motherboard might have a bad circuit.
I then decided that there might be something related to time zones or time in general that was causing the trouble with the malfunctioning laptop. That got me thinking about the CMOS 2032 battery. After all, the error message about wi-fi is turned off and turn on manually in 1 hour, 4 hours etc. is a time related reference. I decided I would put a new CMOS battery in the troubled laptop. The old battery was almost dead, but had a very slight charge left. When it was still in, the time in the laptop's system tray on screen seemed to be okay. So I thought maybe the wireless function requires considerably more power than just a simple basic time clock uses and is linked in some way on the motherboard to time zones and the ability to turn on wireless and show the available networks. After I put the new battery in and reassembled the laptop, sure enough the laptop could display the available networks and connect wirelessly to the networks again. The System panel also now showed wi-fi turned on with the buttons in the correct position as on and no longer greyed out.
I strongly suggest to anyone having the troubles about wi-fi being turned off to try replacing the CMOS battery as a test.

2023-03-19T19:58:18+00:00 Who is your Internet Service Provider? What status do you have with your ISP? Are your Modem/Router both working? How about other devices you have, if any? If all is working, have you tried a reboot of your computer? Have you selected the wi-fi adapter as what you want to use and checked its Status? See example image below.
