Monitors turn on by themselves (I have my monitor off set to 5 mins). See below! Please help

I have the monitors set to sleep at 5 mins (but not the computer). I set this in the windows settings. They turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity, with the computer still running and playing music in the background but then they turn on again. Following another 5 mins of inactivity, the monitors sleep without turning on until I move the mouse or hit a keyboard button. It's driving me crazy and I cannot figure out what is going on! Why do the monitors come back on and then stay off after the second 5 minutes?

I updated all drivers and Bios but I still have this issue. I also set pwr to balanced. Is there anything else I can do/check to fix this issue? Please help. Thank you!!!!

    Hi LacRads,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your monitors turning on by themselves.

There are several possible causes and solutions for this issue. Here are some suggestions that you can try:

Replace or check your cables for any damage or loose connection.

Change your power settings to disable wake timers.

To do this, open Power Options by clicking the Start button, click Change plan settings for the plan that you want to change, click Change advanced power settings, expand Sleep, expand Allow wake timers, choose Disable for both when your computer is running on battery and when it’s plugged in, and then click OK.

Disable your screen saver if you have one.

Run your PC in safe mode to see if any programs or drivers are causing the issue.

Update your display and monitor driver by uninstalling and reinstalling them from Device Manager.

Check your mouse and keyboard: Sometimes, a faulty mouse or keyboard can send signals to your computer, causing it to wake up and turn on your monitors. Try unplugging your mouse and keyboard and see if the issue persists.

Find out what woke your computer by using commands like powercfg -lastwake or powercfg -waketimers in Command Prompt (run as administrator).

Tweak Windows Update, Scheduled Maintenance, and other programs that may have wake timers that trigger your monitors to turn on.

Disable any devices that may be allowed to wake your computer, such as keyboard, mouse, or network adapter. You can do this by going to Device Manager, right-clicking on the device, choosing Properties, and unchecking “Allow this device to wake the computer” under Power Management tab.

I hope these suggestions help you fix your problem. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely
