After last update I can´t tye any text into Facebook Messenger Windows store app or standalone Facebook Messenger application

Try uninstall and reinstall the application.

No, only in FB Messenger, I reinstalled without result

I have strange issue with this app in MS Windows 10 after last days. I have installed standalone application and MS store app to, in both app I can´t type text into message or sear field. This strange bug appear on standalone app before some week, now the same error is in MS store app too. This make this apps unusable

Same exact issue. I'm on Windows 11 latest. Started with the native app downloaded from messenger. com. It refuses ALL keyboard input in the app. I've tried everything. I uninstalled it and installed the Messenger app from the Microsoft Store and it was working fine for about a week, and now it is also not accepting any keyboard input.

Hello and a happy new Year to all,

i for myself was able to fix this problem, but as i have done many things, i do not really know which was the real solution. Here the steps in inverse chronogical view (newer first).

Activating Tablet and Ink input services (was off)
Removing all messenger and facebook entries from registry (fbmessenger, fb-messenger, facebook)
general sytem health and intergrity checkups (DISM and SFC/scannow)
Installing latest updates.
logging off from Microsoft account
Several uninstall, cleanup and reinstall of Messender Desktop (the point where here was stuck).

Hope i was able to help. In bad case you have to do all the stuff, but i reccommend to first activate Tablet and Ink Support, if it maybe was deactivated by an update or one of the known "optimization tools",
maybe accidentaly by the user, because it tells you it is safe to deactivate. ( I also dit, SIGH! )

I also used your Autoruns advice.

I have been wrestling with this on and off for a couple of weeks. As soon as I activated Tablet and Ink and reinstalled Messenger it worked.

When Messenger launched, I kept getting a "Please give access to stored credentials" error message, which confused the issue to start off with.

Of your list of steps, I had already tried all of them except installing latest updates which I never do, until I know what issues have surfaced.

Ok I found a solution. Go to Services, set "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service" service to Manual, apply and restart. Your Messenger will work again

This fixed it for me, thank you! I set the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting" Service to Disabled. I set it to Manual and it worked. Windows 11.

Hello! Yes i did many attempts to find the solution. It toome me almost 2-3 months. Other people just has read the last thing i did and made as his/her own solution. The Tablet and ink writing service seems to be the thing that needns to be acvive, even if you do not have a tablet pc.

Stopped working 6 months ago when they shoved the microsoft store version down our throats. The previous standalone was fine, but the MS store one relies on this service, apparently.
Oh, and, weirdly, you DO have to reboot, sadly. Tried without and did not work.

Take a look at the following website and follow steps there:

Run Windows Update and download and install all updates.
In the installer page of the application in the Microsoft Store , you shall see option to contact support and make sure report these issues.
You may open start and search for feedback and open the Feedback Hub app and report these issues.

I would also like to add you cannot type anything to anyone. However you can right click and paste items in.

However, if you want to delete it (as in just testing) - you can't backspace from the keyboard.

I think its not releated to the microsoft store. You can download the new messenger app from facebook themselves, Messenger.132.0.0.12.119.exe. The standalone app also has the same problem

Or you mean download it directly forom Facebook for desktop, where is link fordownload Messenger desktop application?

You can download their app directly from Facebook and not through the Microsoft Store. https://www.messenger.com/desktop

But it still has the exact same issue, so it's likely an issue with the app and not the Microsoft Store.

This. I've downloaded it half a dozen different times, in different ways - doesn't accept text input in any of them.
