Why isnt the diskpart command clean working with my partitions?

Hello everyone!

In order to install a Kali Linux live on a pendrive of mine, i decided I would use a partition on my SSD as an installation media, as by doing that I wouldn't need to get another removable installation media (such as another pendrive or memory card). In order to do that, I created a new 5gb partition on the SSD, and went to transform it into an MBR partition (so that I could be bootable to install the linux). To do so, I opened diskpart, selected the volume, and typed the clean command, but, no matter what I did, it always refused to do so returning the following message:

Clean is not allowed on the disk containing the current boot, system,
pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume.

The thing is: why does it do that? sure, the disk where the partition is on does in fact contain said files, but im trying to clean the volume, ain't I? What am I missing?

If there is no way to circumvent that, would there at least be another way to turn the volume into an MBR? I would be glad to know it!

The Clean command wants to wipe the entire SSD -- not just a select volume or partition that is on it. When at a Command Prompt from within Windows (as opposed to the recovery environment), Clean will refuse to wipe the SSD that has a system partition on it (EFI, Windows, maybe Recovery) or that has the "pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume", if one of those was involved in the current boot.

Hi Vale. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

Both Clean command and MBR format are disk-specific, not volume or partition. You must Clean and/or format MBR the whole disk.

Make sure to back up files first. Clean zeroes the partition table and boot sector which makes it therapeutic for most purposed, and can be undone using Test Disk undelete feature.

We don't support much Linux here but it's not possible almost at all to use a internal or external drive to create bootable Windows media, it must have the switch or flag that tells the Media Creator that it is a flash stick.

For specific help on install Linux you can ask in a Linux forum here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/

Let me know if you have any questions or I can help performing any of the above steps. If you'll post back detailed results on each step in each tutorial, it will help me determine what else needs to be tried.
