automatically turn extended display on or off

My mom is having health problems and I moved back in to help take care of her.

A couple times I've let her use my desktop instead of her slow laptop, which has two monitors of slightly different sizes.

She is not very technically inclined, and keeps losing the mouse pointer when it goes onto the right-hand secondary monitor. She hates the extended display.

She also can't remember how to turn off the "extended" display, or remember to turn it back on again before logging off.

Unfortunately, it's a per system setting instead of per user, so turning it off for her turns it off for me.

Is there any way to make login/logoff scripts to automatically make Windows only use the primary monitor when she logs in, then put it back into the dual-monitor configuration when she logs off?

The only way I know how is via the "display settings" GUI.

One other potential hiccup is that Windows considers my primary display to be monitor #2, despite the fact that "make this my main display" is checked.

The monitors are different sizes, the main one (#2) is 1600x900, while the secondary one is only 1360x768, so switching to mirrored (which would probably have been better for mom) is not desirable as neither monitor displays the other's resolution very well.

I'm using Windows 10 because Windows 11 had too many problems when I tired the free downgrade (yes, I used the correct word for the results I got. Zero benefits, tons of problems and annoyances = downgrade).

Hi SlickRCBD. I am Jacob. I am here to help you with this issue. Let’s get started. Unfortunately, there is not a way to do that. However, you can turn it off by pressing WIN+P and selecting PC screen only. And when you use it, do all that but press extend.
