Trying to solve an issue similar to the one answered here after an upgrade from Win10 Pro to Win11 Pro:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-update-showing-windows-intelligence-update/d36cb4f1-22a1-43fa-be0b-d07974a37628?page=1

Tried everything in that thread and also uninstalled Webroot AV, but problem persists.

Went to Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection updates. Said Security intelligence is up to date. Clicked "Protection updates" then "Check for updates" and got the given error with "A security error occurred".

How can I find out what object is causing the problem?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. My name is Saeid. I'll be happy to help you out today. You can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Error code 80072f8f usually indicates a problem with the SSL/TLS certificate validation. This error could be caused by a variety of factors, including incorrect system date and time settings, an invalid SSL certificate, or network connectivity issues.

To determine which object is causing the problem, you can try the following steps:

Check the system date and time settings: Make sure that the system date and time settings on your computer are correct. Incorrect system date and time settings can cause SSL/TLS certificate validation errors.

Check for Windows updates: Make sure that your computer is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.

Check for network connectivity issues: Make sure that your computer has a stable internet connection and that there are no network connectivity issues.

Check for third-party software conflicts: Disable any third-party antivirus software or firewalls temporarily and try to update Windows Defender again.

    Hello Saeid,

I checked the system date & time.

I can't check for updates as the button is missing.

    No problem with Internet connection.

    Have uninstalled 3rd party AV.

    Dave
