I was checking security permissions for a folder on my windows 10 laptop the other day and I found a couple of options:

  • SYSTEM
  • (my user) (New-PC\New)
  • HomeUsers (New-PC\HomeUsers)
  • Administrators (New-PC\Administrators)

My question is, am I the only one on my laptop, is there someone monitoring me? Because I tried researching about HomeUsers and the information was very limited.

Please help out. Thanks.

"Other computers in your network" means all computers connected to the same wifi or router as your computer is connected.

If you want to share a file or folder with another computer on the same network, you can do this in two ways:

Option 1: With the option password enabled.

-In this case, you will need to create a user and password and configure the permissions for this new user in the computer that is sharing the file/folder, then to be able to access this file/folder the other computer will need to use the user and password created. This option is useful if you have several computers in the network, and each one can only access a specific file/folder.

Option 2:With the option password e disabled.

In this case, the "HomeUsers" group will manage the other computers access permission in the file/folder. This option is useful if you don't need to give different permission in the file/folder.

Hi, cashycoins. I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

You don't need to worry about it, the "HomeUsers" is a Windows default user group. This group is used for the file sharing settings.

When you share a folder in your network using the "Home Group" option, Windows will use this user group to give permission to access the file for the other computer in your network with you are sharing the folder.

Hello Robinson, thanks for reaching out.

What do you mean by "other computer in your network"?

I don't believe I have another user on my laptop, do you mean that the user group will be managing the process if you're trying to send a file to another computer on the same network?

    Thanks again!
