Some Apps are not showing in the Advanced sound options

Hello All,

i have the mini GOXLR and i used to map the apps to different sound mixers within the goxlr using the Advanced Sound Options where i will choose the app and then choose my preferred sound output.

lately some apps are not even showing on the list at all even though the app is opened (this was not an issue 2 months ago), and a sound is playing. (Sound is not mapped to any output hence i can't hear anything).

example: when i am using Whatsapp app, i want the sound to be controlled from the chat mixer on the GOXLR device, when i go to the Advanced sound settings to choose the output source as Chat, i cant find the whatsapp app on the list to choose from.

anyone knows why this is happening and how can i fix it?

    Hello Greg,

First, I am really thankful someone replied and that fast as well so for that you have my appreciation no matter the outcome. now lets get down to business.

    1. for the first link https://thewebaround.com/gaming/how-to-use-the-goxlr-app/:

    • this simply describes how to connect the GoXLR which i have done again to ensure I follow all the steps and the problem is still not fixed.

    2. for the second link https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/tw00g3/had_problems_with_goxlr_mini_not_being_recognized/:

    • i have tried the suggested solution which is to disable NVidia high definition and still did not work. here is the list i have from my sound control panel.

so, i have disabled them one by one first and then checked (still did not work) and then i have disabled them altogether (still did not work).

    3. for the third link https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/tc-helicon-goxlr-mini-setup-guide/:

    • i have followed these steps:

    Update your computer’s sound settings

When your computer plays audio, the sound is output through a selected audio device. In this case, it’s your GoXLR Mini. For it to work correctly, you’ll need to update your computer’s sound settings. That means any audio software needs to know what the audio device is and what inputs and outputs are being used.  Follow these steps to update your computer’s sound settings.

    1. From your Windows taskbar, right-click the sound icon and select Open Sound Settings.
    2. Select your TC-Helicon GoXLR Mini from the Output and Input dropdown boxes.
      • The Output is listed as System (TC-Helicon GO XLR MINI)
      • The Output is listed as Chat Mic (TC-Helicon GO XLR MINI)
    3. Test your output by scrolling down to and selecting Sound Control Panel, click the Playback tab, right-click the GoXLR Mini, then click Test.

here is a screenshot of what i have:

i have tested the sounds and all is working fine for the GOXLR. however i have also tried to troubleshoot using the troubleshoot command from the sound settings (showing on the pic above) and weirdly enough i would reciev this message:

note sure if this is important but thought i might as well share it. what i did next was follow these steps from the same link:

Is your TC-Helicon GoXLR Mini not showing up?

The GoXLR Mini is bus-powered, which means it uses your computer to power it. If your GoXLR Mini isn’t showing up, reconnect the interface by unplugging and plugging it back in. If you have not done so yet, try reconfiguring the USB connections so that it is connected directly to your computer.

Sometimes USB hubs cannot provide enough power for bus-powered devices, which is especially true for hubs that do not have their own power supply (aka passive hubs). If the problem persists, try a different USB port or cable. Visit ourWindowsguide for more tips on resolving audio device connectivity.

i changed the USB port and restarted the PC and i would still not find the whatsapp app on the list (the snip is taken while whatsapp is opened and a video is playing through whatsapp)

    4. as for the 4th link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sE_voMnA94:

    • the video is fairly straight, and all steps have already been followed when I started installing & connecting the GOXLR mini so i didn't really repeat the steps.

proceeding with the rest of the recommendations:

    1. Drivers update:
    • the website has only the software's and I couldn't find any drivers to download but i tried to check the software update through the GOXLR app itself and it will tell me that it is up to date.

that leaves contacting the support which i still haven't done yet. i thought ill just share what i have done first and wait for your advice. additionally, this issue happened when i connected a third monitor. when i was working with 2 monitors i did not face this issue. this came to existence only when the third monitor got connected. dont really know if this is relevant. i just wanted to share this to ensure you have the full history of what has happened so far. i hope i was detailed in my reply and i am sorry for the length of this message.

The problem you are having is likely because Whatsapp is a UWP app now. I am looking around searching for answers about assigning output devices to apps manually to use with my GoXLR. It works fine on just about everything, but there are a few issues with every UWP app. Often times the problem is they dont show up in the sound list, but I did figure out that when I cant find it, they are usually named "Microsoft Edge" instead of the actual app name. You just have to figure out which Edge device is the one you actually want. The next problem however is that after you assign the output to use it will respect that just fine and be controlled on the fader by the GoXLR, until you reboot. Then it says it is assigned but it really isnt, it is back on default. You have to manually change the output back to default (even though it is really already assigned to that) and then change it back to the output device you want. Every time you reboot you have to do this with every single UWP app. It is obviously a problem with UWP apps themselves. Hopefully someone has figured out a workaround cause by this point I doubt it will ever be fixed.

If it worked with dual monitors and stopped working correctly with a third monitor then it may be a limitation of the app, your PC or video card which is what controls display.

The Display driver is so important here that merely updating it might not be enough. Try everything here to make sure:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

The best expertise for multiple monitors is not here but at Display Fusion forum here: https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/ so I'd ask there, too.

Then be sure to contact the GOLXR Support as they will probably know the issue better than anyone here, since it's not a Microsoft Product.

Hello, I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

Try these guides to get GOLXR working in WIndows 10:

    https://thewebaround.com/gaming/how-to-use-the-...

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/tw00g3...

    https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/t...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sE_voMnA94

In the Sound Settings the output might need to be set to the GOLXR if that's what is controlling your sound devices.

Is the GOLXR recognized in your Device Manager or Sound Settings? It may require a driver from the device downloads here:

    https://www.tc-helicon.com/downloads.html

For further help with this contact the GOLXR Support as they will know what is needed here for their mixer:

    https://www.tc-helicon.com/service.html?service...

Let me know if you have any questions or I can help performing any of the above steps. If you'll post back detailed results on each step in each tutorial, it will help me determine what else needs to be tried.
