Widgets.exe - System Error

Before the issue starting occurring, I did a reinstalled windows but with the option to keep present files. This never occurred before the restart.

After I exit a Steam game, my computer will just start opening the same 6 applications at the same time for no apparent reason. I'm also given 4 different "Widgets.exe - System Error" pop-ups.

Here's what I receive

  1. "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140_APP.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem."
  2. "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1_APP.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem."
  3. "The code execution cannot proceed because CONCRT140_APP.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem."

4.""The code execution cannot proceed because "VCRUNTIME140_APP.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem."

This occurs every time I close out of a game.

I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling widgets.exe, but the issue still occurs.

Hi Adam, I think it's due to Razer Cortex managing your background apps when you run a game, then relaunching them when you exit the game. Are you able to uninstall Razer Cortex and test?

    You're welcome.

According to the CBS log you provided, the corrupted files were fixed when you ran the DISM and SFC scans.
