Disabling an audio device in Windows 10(it does nothing)

I deliberately want to disable several audio devices so they never record or play audio.

Even though the devices are disabled in device manager, applications can and do still use them to play and record audio.

I haven't found a solution to the problem.

Operating system is Windows 10 22H2 64 Bit.

Hi Maul, I'm John D, and I am an independent advisor.

I understand your concern about disabling audio devices on Windows 10 and the frustration that comes with them still being used by applications even when disabled in the device manager. One possible solution is to disable them in the Windows Sound settings by following these steps:

    > Right-click the volume icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings".

    > Scroll down to the "Input" and "Output" sections and click on "Manage sound devices".

    > Locate the devices you wish to disable, and click on them to select them.

    > Click the "Disable" button to prevent applications from using these devices.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist you in resolving this issue.

    Best regards,
