Windows 11 hotspot not working

I use an ethernet cable for my internet and I connect to my laptop's hotspot for my phone. However since around a week or so ago, the hotspot is not working. I googled around and found that a new update caused some issues with it but it is not that in my case. The thing is the hotspot turns on but I am not able to connect to it. I ran windows troubleshooter and it found that something is preventing my device from sharing it's connection due to security.
Here is the message from windows troubleshooter:
"Security or Firewall settings might be blocking the connection"
When viewing the details I can see that "NatAlePortFilter" is preventing the connection
I tried disabling windows defender and tried disabling windows security to see if they might be the issue but nothing worked. Tried reinstalling my adapters but nothing worked either
Any suggestions to what might be the cause and how to fix it?
I have windows 22H2, OS build is 22621.1. I am running win 11 insider version

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I understand the issue you have, nothing to worry I am here to help, I know some of these steps are already done, you have just skipped it if you think it will have the same result.

Method 1. Restart Mobile hotspot services

Press Windows key + R then type in: services.msc then hit OK

Look for Windows Mobile Hotspot Service > Right click then click Restart or Start if it's not yet running.

Method 2. Change the network adapter’s settings

Go to Settings> Network & internet > Advanced network settings

Then select More network adapter options under Related settings.

Right-click the network adapter for your mobile hotspot to select Properties.

Select the Sharing tab on the properties window.

Deselect the checkbox for the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection option.

Hit OK and restart the PC

If none will work, the last option is to update Wi-Fi Driver:

    -Go to Device Manager

    -Expand the Network Adapters

-Look for the Wireless driver that was installed

    -Right-click and Update

-Look for "Browse my computer for driver

-Let me pick drivers available drivers

-Choose an old driver and use it.

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

I had this issue for a really long time. I asked GPT, told me to give my hotspot an entirely new password and forget-and-connect my phone again using the new password and it just worked.

I tried these steps and even tried uninstalling the device entirely it is still not working,
I tried 2 different adapters. The Wifi Card that came with the laptop and an external TP Link adapter. Both adapters can connect just find and start the hotspot just fine but my phone can't connect to it, it's not just my phone either, can't connect using any device. I run the troubleshooter and I get this:

The issue is from windows, not my adapters

Gah - have just uninstalled drivers, hunted high and low for a solution - can't believe that forgetting the network and resetting the password was the solution.... which has worked perfectly...

Try to disable windows firewall or add particular connection to exception in windows firewall.
