Hi,

I'm a bit surprised that I can't find a page on the Microsoft website for buying a Windows 10 Home license. Where can I buy one?

    Hi H_581,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Microsoft stopped selling Windows 10 on 31 January, they only sell Windows 11 now, usually after a new version of Windows is released they stop selling the previous version a year later.

The only way now would be to get Windows 10 from a 3rd party retailer online, or from a PC shop that may have a copy of Windows 10 left.

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately on the Activation page there is only the option to Troubleshoot or Change Product Key. It does say "Go to the store to buy a genuine product key or enter a product key."

I've tried looking on the Microsoft Store but there only seems to be apps, and on the online website Store I can only see physical products and not software.

If you go to Settings > Update and security > Activation > Go to Store, do you have the option to buy from the Store for the device you are using.

You can visit popular online marketplaces and retailers such as Amazon, Newegg, or eBay. These platforms usually have multiple sellers offering Windows 10 Home licenses, both as physical product keys and digital downloads. Be sure to read reviews and check the sellers reputation before making a purchase to ensure you are getting a legitimate license. I personally use this site [mod removed]. While Microsoft does provide information about Windows 10 on their website they often redirect customers to authorized resellers for the actual purchase, this i know procedure since windows 7.

Remember to verify the legitimacy of the license you are buying to ensure it is not a counterfeit or unauthorized copy. It's advisable to purchase from reputable sources to avoid any potential problems with activation or updates in the future.

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for replying. I see. I've tried searching for updates on my PC but no Windows 11 option seems to be available. I may have to scout around for a Windows 10 key online. I just don't fancy the idea of buying 3rd party in case they're not legitimate!
