Hi , I realized that i have a Trojan which mines crypto in the background (Nvidiagpucontrol.exe)
When i opened the task manager i noticed that something was running in the background and was consuming all my resources

I tried everything but it refuses to delete
It is located in C:\Program Files\ in a folder under the name of NVIDIA Compute
There is only the exe and a few folders apart is an Nvidia.json with something inside
But every time one of them is deleted they come back and even if i delete it manually it comes back every time (or it doesn't let me to delete it). Very often it starts to use a lot of resources (up to 90%) and the PC becomes very laggy

    Hi George,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

That is a crypto-currency miner, they can be hard to remove.

Download the free version of Malwarebytes

Boot your PC into Safe Mode and run a full scan with Malwarebytes.

Then boot back into Windows normally and open Defender or your preferred 3rd party anti-virus and select the Offline Scan option.

Then, when the scan completes, and your PC starts again, check if that malware is gone.

Download Malwarebytes Antimalware and run a full scan. Eliminate every malware it finds.

    Additionally, please do the following:

    • Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST64.exe)
    • Run FRST64.exe and click "Scan".
    • Upload the two logs, namely, FRST.txt and Addition.txt, to your OneDrive and share the link here.

hi, i was suffering the same, little NUC's fan runs crazy.

instead of finding another software to deal with it, i tried the most basic way to deal with it.

    1. on your desktop, create a txt file, and rename it with NvidiaGPUControl1.exe, remember to change the extension name too
    2. locate the folder where the exe sits
    3. start task manager, and kill all NvidiaGPUControl1.exe
    4. quickly move the new txt file into the malware folder and replace the mother-f*cker
    5. monitor the task manager for a while, i believe you wont see it again, and the fan will be put to rest at last

despite i successfully dealt with that, i still dont know which piece of garbage software is constantly put the exe back after been removed by defender.

    good luck
