Win 11 No WiFi adapter

Hi,

I installed Win 11 Home and there is no WiFi adapter listed at all. I used to have Win 10 before and WiFi worked normally. It was cleaned installation, not update.

I only have Ethernet in Network adapters. No WiFi adapter that I can enable.

I have Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro motherboard and AMD Ryzen.

I tried to disable ethernet, update driver, reinstall driver, reset router, network reset in Advanced Network settings, troubleshoot network adapters and nothing worked.

I even tried Terminal commands:

netsh int ip reset
netsh advfirewall reset
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you !

    Hi tmarec,

Thank you for the reply. What is your tplink wireless N access point model? From the way it looks, it appears that the wireless access point acts like a physical usb wifi adapter as it is connected via ethernet cable to the back of your pc. You mentioned there is internet connection but slow. What I can think of is the wireless access point might be connected to a different wireless network.

You can check it by getting in to the access point's page and check if it is connected to your router.

    Here's how to do it:

    1. From your web browser, type 192.168.0.254 (this is the default ip address of the access point)
    2. The default user name is "admin" the password is also "admin"
    3. This should take you to the access point's settings page.

I would need a screenshot of the access point page to guide you further as I am not familiar as to how it looks.

Yes if you connect with a either net cable [aka blue wire] It will not ask for a password. This is normal. You can try a speed test at www.speedtest.net a "n" router via wifi will only go so fast probably max 100mb/s. You may probably get 20mbs down /10mbs up load speed. I personally haven't seen a "n" only router since 2004ish... A direct connection right to your internet providers box is the best option to test full network capacity. Maybe there is a incorrect setting in the router limiting your network speeds?

Usually network router log-in would be at

    http://192.168.0.1

Then you can see your t.p link settings.

    Hi JhakeSong,

    thank you for answering.

I had Windows update (took one day) but no change.

I have tplink wireless N Access Point connected to my PC - should be wirelessly connected to my router. I tried to unplug it and plugin again, but no change.

I tried to update driver, but again no changes.

I can connect to Internet but it is slow - there is no WiFi connection and it never asked me for wifi password.

It only shows Ethernet (I am not connected by cable).

    Hi RAJU.MSC.MATHEMATICS,

I use B450 AORUS PRO andd ownloaded that driver.

    Hi tmarec,

Good day! I’m Jhakesong and I'll try to help you today.

I see that your motherboard does not come with a built in WIFI card. In this case, your WIFI adapter is connected via the USB port of your computer. First, try to install the chipset drivers for your motherboard from here:

    https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B450-AORUS...

File name: AMD Chipset Driver [3.10.22.706]

After installing the Chipset driver, unplug the WIFI adapter and plug it to a different USB port. See if windows detects the wifi adapter automatically.

If windows does not detect the wifi adapter, check for available updates in windows.

    1. press windows key + i, this opens up settings.
    2. Click windows update
    3. Click Advanced options then go to optional updates
    4. Check if there are available driver updates that might be relevant to your wireless adapter.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!
