How to completely clean your laptop when returning it to the store

Hello,

I recently purchased a Windows 11 laptop but I have to return it for various reasons.

What is the best way to remove everything from the laptop before returning it to the store ?

I removed/uninstalled all the applications that I installed .

Cleared the Google Chrome and Edge History ..

Then I was going to use "Reset PC" and set "Clean the Drive" to Yes.

My questions are :

I assume this will remove my Microsoft Account that I have on the Laptop , right ?

If not how do I remove it ?

Should I encrypt the SSD drive first before the Reset ? Some articles mentions to encrypt the SSD drive first but most articles do not mention it . So it is necessary ?

Any other tips on this subject is appreciated

Hello Michel, how are you?

You must perform the Windows Factory Reset and choose the Remove All option.

With that, this process will completely erase everything from your computer and return to the initial state, when you started it for the first time, that is, the factory default.

It will be removed, your data, files, MS account, completely everything, no need to encrypt the drive.
