WinSXS folder issue - growing too large

Ive been tackling an increasingly worrying issue regarding the WinSXS folder on my Windows Server 2016 fileserver. This folder continues to grow uncontrollably and no matter how many disk cleanups I run this is never enough. Is there another workaround to this issue?? I keep adding space to the VHDX just for this folder to keep eating up and its no longer a viable workaround to solve the issue.

    Hello,

My name is Nada, I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I will try my best to assist you.

Based on what I see here, WinSXS folder is the component store of Windows Vista and later operating systems. Windows OS stores all its core components within WinSXS directory. That means this folder contains very important files and not recommend deleting.

I highly recommend cleaning up the storage by following these steps:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-serve...

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fre...

If both of these are not working, the user might need to reset the PC and re-setup the server 2016 to control the storage space. Thanks!
