I accidentally clicked "free up space" on my phone and it transferred all my pictures and videos on my phone to One Drive. I want them all back on my phone, how do I do this?

I'm in the process of MDM joining devices for an organisation. I'm setting up photo backup on the old devices. then on the new devices I'm having to go into the me > photo's section, manually selecting all photos (you can tap - hold then drag to select multiple at a time) manually to download them. then have to navigate to the downloads folder on the phone and again select all of the photos and move them to the gallery location in order for them to show up in the app.

I would suggest you delete all files in the download folder before downloading the images this way to prevent random files showing up in the gallery after this step.

It would be a great feature to add a button to "restore gallery from backup" as this is the only thing missing from the photo backup solution. backing up the photos is great but restoring them is hard work completely ruining the purpose of having a photo backup.

Hello! My name is Mostafa, and I’m an independent advisor and a long-time Microsoft user.

I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.

Unfortunately, there's no "select all" button in OneDrive, so you must select each photo and video individually. This can be time-consuming if you have a large number of files, but it's the only way to restore your files from OneDrive to your phone.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Tap and hold the circle icon in the upper left corner of the photo or video to select it.
    2. Tap on each additional photo or video that you want to select to add it to your selection. A checkmark should appear in the circle for each selected photo or video.

After selecting all of the photos and videos that you want to restore, tap on the three dots icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

    1. Select three Dots in the up-right corner, then select "Download" from the menu that appears. OneDrive will begin downloading the selected photos and videos to your phone.
    2. After the download is complete, open your phone's photo gallery app to confirm that the photos and videos have been restored.

I hope the above steps helped you. In case of additional questions, reach out back to me, and I will be happy to help and try my best to resolve your issue. Thank you.

    Best,

    Mostafa

    Hi John

That solution isn't working for me. Firstly I see no option to "save". Where is the "save" button located?

Also I have many photos. I see no "more" button to select more than one, however if I press and hold down the image or file it let's me select more. But there are way too many images and videos to selected and save. And there is no option to "select all".

Clear cache and data will remove the temporary file from your phone, and your files will not remove from OneDrive.

Are you sure clearing "data" won't delete all my photos?
