    Hi Simon Rolfe,

Thank you for getting back to us.

I noticed that your model is actually a corporate purchasing type of product.

Generally, the purchase of new external hardware for such equipment is purchased by IT asset managers.

The procured product should be validated and meet the requirements.

If there is indeed no connection prompt popping up.

Try typing 0000 or 1234 or 000000 or 123456 directly and press Enter.

There should be a different version of Bluetooth AVRCP available in your phone, you can find it in the developer options, and switch it.

    • The image below is an example of the device I used.

As far as I know, there are multiple Bluetooth pairing modes.

These include Numeric Comparison, Just Works, Passkey Entry, and Out of Band.

You may need to consult your Bluetooth dongle provider for details on the parameters of the device you are using.

Since you are using an external Bluetooth module.

Personally, it is recommended that you use your phone for cross-testing with other computers with built-in Bluetooth modules.

See if the problem is related to that Bluetooth dongle.

Besides, I'd also like to confirm with you if you've done what I did in my first reply, which is to add a device through the Control Panel.

    Best Regards,

Hi, in reply to your query about my system; system details are as follows:-

    • Hardware - Dell Optiplex 380 desktop PC
    • Operating System - Windows 10 version 21H2 (OS build 19044-2846)
    • Bluetooth product model - BRlink1.1.0.34
    • Smartphone System; Android 11 version RON31.267-92

Bluetooth dongle has loaded onto OS and appears under Universal Serial Bus Controllers

My smartphone can see dongle and generates six digit pairing code, then it states can't communicate with desktop T5KK4DR assume as a result of not getting pairing code handshake from PC

Unable to progress beyond this stage a no indication on PC of where to enter pairing code into PC

Smartphone then displays "Couldn't pair with desktop T5KK4DR because of incorrect PIN or passkey!

    Please advise solution!

    Hi Simon Rolfe,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    I can understand your confusion.

Compatibility issues with third-party hardware are not excluded.

There are many ways to link computers and mobile phones.

Includes direct cable connection and pairing using Bluetooth.

Or use Phone Link to link under the same Wi-Fi.

To better assist you in analyzing the phenomenon, I would like to confirm some information with you.

    • What is your system version? You can type winver in the search box to get detailed system version information.
    • What is the product model of the Bluetooth dongle you are using?
    • What type of mobile phone system are you using? Android or iOS?

Your device is currently running non-integrated, third-party Bluetooth hardware.

This may have some impact on the pairing feature.

If the Bluetooth module on your PC is working properly.

In addition to initiating a pairing request to the PC through your phone, you can also try to initiate a Bluetooth scan and pairing request from your PC.

    • Go to Settings >> Device >> Bluetooth & other devices. Image

Alternatively, you can also try adding devices from the Control Panel.

    • Type Control Panel in the search box, find and run it.
    • Select View devices and printers. Image
    • Click Add a device.
    • Tap the device you want to connect to and check if the pairing code is the same as on your phone. Image Image

Besides, here is a reference article on Bluetooth issues.

If the issue persists, please don't rush. Please feed the results back to me for further analysis.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
