Hello I have recently moved schools and the original school I went to put a heap of safety settings and didnt remove them when I left I have contacted this school and asked them how to fix the issue but what the suggested didn’t help They have made it so that my computer only can be signed into with a work or school account and I was wondering how to fix that? I have done the factory reset multiple times and the computer won’t even let me sign in with a different work of school account. The image below shows what my computer says after I try and log in with my new schools account. If anyone knows anything please help me

Hello Alyssia. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

Do you still have your personal account on the PC, which would have come with it if it's a factory PC? If so go into Settings > Accounts > Access Work & School, find the school account, right click to Disconnect, then Remove, to see if you get your personal account back without school interference.

Did this PC come from the factory with Windows Home preinstalled, which has the license embedded in the BIOS chip on motherboard?

Or was it a school PC to begin with and has only an Education license - which you can check in Settings > System > Activation?

Based on the results and answers you post back I will have other suggestions.

This is not something that can be shortcutted. There is a license on it from the school, they need to either sign it over to you or remove it so you can reinstall a consumer edition of Windows.

Did you buy the laptop from the school or was it given to you? I cannot emphasize strongly enough that you need to be sure of this, even get it in writing, so some misunderstanding doesn't lead to legal charges against you later on.

If you're going to a new school and the old school can't help you with it before sessions begin, then I'd go in early to the new school and ask their help in getting it ready for classes. But they may also direct you to the old school since as long as it has their Education edition installed upon it, it may appear to IT professionals to belong to the school.

those steps seem very complicated and I was wondering if there was a simpler way to fix this issue? If not that is completely fine . The IT compartment from my old school said they don’t know what else to do without seeing the computer with their eyes but I have not got the time as tomorrow I need this laptop for my other school.

Enterprise edition is volume activated using the organization's on-site server, which the PC must check in with regularly or it will expire. So you can't keep that license even if you are allowed to keep the PC, unless the school can make special arrangements to activate it for you on-site regularly.

If the PC now belongs to you, you should buy a Home license, boot the latest bootable media (always available online to create an 8gb+ flash stick installer) delete all partitions off the drive and install Home edition which is a consumer edition that frees it up from the school.

    Clean Install tutorial here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

If the BIOS is locked so you cannot even boot the media, which some businesses and organizations do to protect their property from theft, then you'll need to ask your school to unlock it for you. You want to be sure from the school's IT administrator that you have legal possession of the PC. I would ask for it in writing if you are unsure, to protect yourself.

    Hello,

I don’t have any personal accounts on this pc. I also cannot disconnect from the school account as the teachers have added a password on it that I do not know. This pc was originally from the school as they provided it for me. I have attached a picture of what it says in the activation part of settings.
