I dont have the option to turn on or off hardware acceleration.

I went on settings>display>graphics>change default graphics setting. After all of this all I had was optimization for windows game option

    Hello Raymond,

    Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling requires a GPU that supports hardware acceleration, combined with a graphics driver that supports WDDM 2.7 or higher.

    You can try option two below to change the setting via REG file instead.
