Working as a developer using Windows 10 Home, WSL2 is essential feature. However, recently noticed some challenges such as unusual memory consumption by vmmem process, even when docker/WSL2 was not running. So, given that there is Windows Pro version as well, wanted to know in what ways would running WSL be better on Windows Pro.

Well heck, then, let me give it a shot and answer the direct question you asked about if you need Pro. I suspected not since Pro is the same OS you're using before you unlock it's few extra features.

    Sure enough, from https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-w...

"You don't need a mega-powerful PC to run WSL 2 nor do you need the "Pro" version of Windows as you traditionally do to use the Hyper-V VM tool. WSL 2 does utilize the Hyper-V architecture but you don't need to pay extra for it. WSL 2 also supports both x64 and ARM processors. If you're using it on an ARM-based machine, however, you will need to use a version of Linux that has an ARM release, such as Ubuntu.

WSL 2 can also be run on Windows inside a virtual machine as long as the VM software you use has support for nested virtualization and this is enabled."

    I hope it helps.

Great, I hope you get what you need. Those are all the best forums.

Hoping for the same. They do not seem to be as vibrant and responsive as this community here.

    Will wait for a response.
