NVIDIA driver and Windows 11

Hi.

To those who manage this forum: I am Portuguese living in Portugal and I don't really like to be thrown to a pt-br language like I was when I entered here. There is a subsidiary firm here in Portugal (thousands of people work there, they say). Please put them working on an pt-pt translation of this forum. Many sites owners tend to think that we like to chew a derived language such as Brazillian. I bet if I was in England, this forum would send me to the en-gb. So please, if this forum sees someone connecting from Portugal, it needs to load pt-pt and NOT pt-br. This forum exists long enough and there is no excuse to be not have a answers.microsoft.com/pt-pt. I really didn't like to start like this but when it's enough, it's enough. It's like when I went to Youtube yesterday and after watching a video, a new one (from a well-known group) starts playing from the middle (probably watched it before and didn't finish it) and suddenly I start to hear a voice-over in braziilian speech, I rushed pausing the video and really kind realise what's going on. I switched the audio back to English when I never switched to horrid brazillian accent.

Now... to the main topic.

I really got aggravated by the fact Windows 11 and older Nvidia drivers (version 341 342 for Geforce 8xxx/9xxx) do not play along. If I let my screen sleep. the next time I wake it up, the image gets frozen and the way I usually press ctrl+alt+delete and then escape to get the screen back. The image freezes but there are things going backgroudnly. If I let the screen sleep and then wake it up by moving the mouse or press a key, the screen wakes up and I press like ctrl+shift+esc, nothing happens, not even the mouse moves, ctrl+alt+delete and esc, the Task Manager is opened. I see this happening on a PC and laptop that really uses the nvidia driver 342.01 from their site and 341 from Windows Update. This weekend, after reinstalling Windows 10/11, I see that the culprit is Windows 11 itself. I used build 22621 with and out latest updates. Did not try with build 22000 but I remember this happening with this build 1 year ago. I tried set a blank screen saver and set never for screen sleep but sometimes the issue happens. Maybe because I use FN+F6 to turn off the screen manually. There seems to be there people complaining about this. Again, the screen freeze issue does not seem to happen with Windows 10. A good side of downgrade from 11 to 10 is that I find that the File Explorer is kinda snappier than 11's.

I also wanted to know when Task Manager gets fixed. When I open Task Manager and click Performance, the processor specs like speed, virtualization, and caches are kind hidden with ... and if I drag the window limit just a bit, the details are visible. Published to the blog for update 22621.1546, I see:

[Task Manager]

Fixed an issue where some of the details in the Performance page wouldn’t display properly until you resized the window or changed pages back and forth.

but when I recently installed 22621.1555, and guess what? I see no changes.

Another thing that kind makes me angry is when I have File Explorer kinda floating in background and I am working another window like a browser, File Explorer hijacks my screen. I doesn't happen all the time but I noticed that at daily basis same time (random time each PC with Windows 11), the File Manager goes foreground. It needs to be opened firstly. It happens if I am using a PC or not, like when watching a video or typing to a browser.

Hello Hugo. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

I've forwarded this to forums Management so they can see your important Feedback on Portuguese language.

As to Nviida, have you tried installing the driver without GeForce Experience which solves a lot of problems? More here:

The Display driver is so important here that merely updating it might not be enough. Try everything here to make sure:

There are fixes for Task Manager that often work here:

There are some fixes for Task Manager stealing focus from other windows here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/101...

Go over Windows 10 using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.
