2nd Display (Resolution) setting grayed out, Display fixed to 640x480

Hi there, asking for your help!

I use my Lenovo T14 Laptop PC connected via USB-C to a docking station.

Through the docking station I connect to 1 display with HDMI, and 2nd with DP adapter.

This 2nd Display suddenly changed it resolution to 640x480, and the setting is grayed out.

I already tried to

  • update driver and restart
  • use the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and then changed back to the updated Intel UHD Graphics driver
  • disable the device and restart
  • uninstall the device from the system and restart
  • disconnect the screen, unplug it, uninstall the device from the system and restart, and power the screen again and connect again

I as well tried to delete display settings, uninstall the device from the system and restart

But it seems I was not able to delete the file that stores this display settings and set it up again.

Do you have an idea how to really reset all the display settings and set them up from scratch again?

Thank you for your help,

Jakob

    Hi Jakob,

Thank you for the screenshots, you have Intel:registered: iris xe graphics and that has a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2160 so if both your monitors resolutions added together do not exceed that resolution there should be not problem, and your monitors if both of them are 1680x1050 they should be okay.

So the only thing that can be causing this problem is the method you are using to connect that second monitor,, that video outputs do you have on your T14 laptop, I think it is that DP Adapter that is causing the problem.

    Hi Dave,

thank you for coming back to me - firstly I added the Display setting of the disfunctional 2nd screen, this did somehow not work in my original request.

below you find as well the System Information, I added the System Summary as well as the Display Screen.

My first monitor is running at 1680x1050, this is the recommended setting, and it was the identical resolution on the 2nd monitor.

    Thank you, Jakob
