Hello all, I just bought a new computer with Win11. HP Envy (I think). Anyway I want to wipe clean Old Computer #1. I went online and found these instructions and want to know if your agree with it: How to wipe a hard drive - Windows 10

  1. Press the Windows key.
  2. Type “Settings” to find the Settings app.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Click Update & Security.
  5. Click Recovery.
  6. Click Get Started.
  7. Use the Remove everything option.
  8. Chose Local reinstall.
  9. Select Wipe the drive after clicking Change Settings
  10. Click Confirm.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Click Reset.

Or is there another way to do it?

Another question. I have an all-in-one computer (Old Computer#1) and was told that I couldn't expand the Ram Memory. I never verified this, but want to know if all-in-ones have Ram memory that can be expanded?

Old Computer#1 has 8MB Ram and I'm going up to 16MB Ram with New Computer#2.

Yes, I have all my desktop data on a flash drive as backup.

Hi there! I hope you are well. My name is, Zadee. I'll try my best to help you today.

If you are still able to boot Windows properly and access Settings, I suggest using that Reset method. Otherwise, you can use the bootable USB Windows Reinstallation method.

"Want to know if all-in-ones have Ram memory that can be expanded?"

That's going to depend on how much RAM the motherboard supports. If you want that checked, please see the device manufacturer's manual, you can download that on their site.

    Best Regards.

I like that reset function. That's like my cell phone when I want to reset to default settings.

    Thanks.

Simply disconnect the MS Account by going to Settings > Accounts > Your info > Sign in using a local account instead > Fill up the required fields for that local profile > Sign out.

    OR

You can create a new local profile under Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account > I don't have this person's sign-in info > Add a user without a MS account.

Then just fill up the fields to name the local account, and follow the on-screen instructions to finish creating the local account. Make sure to also make this account admin

Sign out from the main account then sign in to the newly created local account. Go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Delete the main account together with its data.

    HELP HELP HELP!

I'm writing you on the Old Computer #1. Went through the reset....BUT -- I had to complete the setup with my account information. All the desktop icons are gone, data is gone....BUT my Profile, sign in, user name, etc. was used to complete the setup. How can I wipe it out because I'm going to pass this onto another person.

What instructions should they have to logging in and creating an account?
