Today I downloaded a malware mistakenly but it was instantly blocked by chrome. Is the malware still present in my system. Or should I run a Full Scan.

A malware file was mistakenly downloaded in my system. But it was blocked by Chrome. When I checked protection history then it was showing that the threat was quarantined. Is the threat removed from my system. Or I need to remove it from the quarantined area also. Or it will be automatically removed from the quarantined area?

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

When the threat is blocked upon download, it usually happens before any damage can be done.

So I don't think you have malware on your system. But doing a full scan is always recommended, just in case.

While the file is in the quarantine, it cannot harm your system. However, you can delete the quarantined file at any time. No problem will happen.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

If the malware was blocked by Chrome, then it probably never got downloaded on your system. However, you should still run a security scan.

Open Windows Security and click on Virus and threat protection.

Click on the Scan options button and choose Full Scan.

    Click on Scan now.

This will scan whole of your computer, but it may take more than an hour. So make sure to keep your computer on, idle and plugged in.

If you have any third-party antivirus program installed, open it and perform a full security scan. Then restart your computer.

Also, you should refrain from intentionally downloading malwares or viruses, or visiting malicious websites on your computer as it may directly affect your OS or personal files/information.
