Hi, office365 settings
Windows 11 continues to default back to Edge. How to I change it permanently to not use edge and only the browser I select.
I have changed my default browser both as an admin user and specificallly as with ADMIN level access. Windows 11 continues to changing it back to Edge. No matter what I do microsoft has it rigged to go back to edge. This is getting frustrating to the point I am ready to delete key files so edge doesnt work.
How can I get this looping BS process to stop and keep Chrome or whatever else I select?
Thanks

2023-11-06T16:51:39+00:00 Those directions are for Windows 10 and not Windows 11. There is no option for 'Web Browser" under default apps in settings. You can only select the specific app and try to set it as default there, which leads to the same issue the OP described. Or you can set default apps for specific file types, but that does not resolve this issue either.

2023-04-28T15:28:51+00:00 Hi Daniel,
I'm Amr, an Independent advisor, and a fellow Microsoft customer.
I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem, and I hope I can assist you to find a satisfactory solution.
Here are some steps you can take to make sure your chosen browser remains the default:
- first and foremost, Make sure you have the latest version of your chosen browser installed.
- Open the Edge browser and go to Settings > Reset settings.
- Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
. Select "Apps" from the left-hand menu.
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on "Default apps."
. Under the "Web browser" section, click on the current default browser (which should be Edge). . Choose your desired browser from the list of options, such as Chrome or Firefox. . If your chosen browser isn't listed, click on "Choose another app" and select it from there. . Once you've chosen your desired browser, close the Settings app. . Restart your computer to make sure the changes take effect.
If Windows 11 continues to reset your default browser to Edge after following these steps, you can try this :
. Open the Registry Editor by pressing Windows+R and typing regedit. . Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts.htm In the right-hand pane, double-click the "OpenWithList" value.
. In the "Value data" field, type the full path to the executable file for your desired browser. For example, if you want to use Chrome, you would type the following:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"
. Click "OK".I hope this helps, please feel free to reply to this if you need any further Assistance.
