"Something went wrong while trying to turn on spatial sound" appearing when trying to enable Dolby Atmos on my Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless headphones.

I have followed every piece of advice concerning this situation.

Atmos is installed correctly.

The licence comes with the headphones.

I have uninstalled the headphones, Dolby Access and Corsair iCUE, restarted, reinstalled and restarted again... Still nothing.

Any possible solution, however far-fetched, would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks for considering my request.

    Hello JoshuaJonkman

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Based on your current description, it seems that there is a problem with the Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless headphones. with Dolby Atmos turned on, here are some troubleshooting steps to perform for this problem. Before doing so, could you please provide some details:

    • Could you try right clicking on Start > Device manager > expand Sound, video and game controllers > and share a screenshot with me.
    • Regarding the "every piece of advice concerning this situation." you mentioned, what are some of the solutions you have tried so far? If the solutions I have provided are the same as the solution you have previously tried, you could choose to skip:

1-> First, you can double click on the driver under Sound, video and game controllers in this list > click Update Driver > see if there is a newer driver for your wireless headset > if the problem occurs after upgrading the driver, try rolling back the driver version to an older version > and see if the problem is resolved.

2-> Disable mono audio via the Accessibility settings. Some community users have reported that this Mono Audio may cause problems with your Spatial sound opening.

    • Here is where to find the option.
    • Press “Windows + I” to open Settings.
    • Select “Accessibility” > Scroll down on the main page and select “Audio.”
    • Turn Off the “Mono Audio” option.
    • With that, you have turned off mono audio in Windows 11.

3-> In the meantime, after closing Mono Audio, try holding down Windows+R > type this command mmsys.cpl > If you have installed Corsair iCUE and Dolby Access correctly > please right-click on your current wireless headphone device and select Properties > make sure there is Dolby Atmos for Headphones > Select it if available.

4-> Then go to the Advanced tab > Under the Exclusive Mode tab ,please toggle on Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device. & Give exclusive mode applications priority.

Once you have finished this, click Apply and see how it works, feel free to let us know if there are any updates.

    Best regards,

Thank you very much for taking the time to thoroughly reply to my question.

I forgot to remove it as shortly after posting the question I realised I was the idiot as for some reason mono audio was in fact turned on in my audio settings...

After I turned off mono audio, everything worked as intended!

Again, thank you for your replay and I apologise for wasting your time.
