Hi all, I changed the frequency for Display1 from by 59.4hz(existing) to 60hz(interlaced) with resolution kept same as 1920 x 1080 as was before. I am observing few fields on the screen fluctuating. Now I am unable to change the frequency back to 59.4Hz as the option is not available in the drop down menu. Pls note that the Display2 has 1280 x 720 resolution and the frequency as 60Hz as before and is unchanged. Can anyone suggest the resolution of the problem ? 1) remove the fluctuation on Display 1 2) 20 change the resolution of Display 2 to 1920 x 1080

    Hi Rajender Saini,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

As you mentioned, the fluctuation issue you are experiencing occurs after modifying the monitor frequency.

This is not a software-level problem.

The change in the parameters of the hardware output signal, combined with frequencies that are recognizable to the human eye, allows you to observe the change.

The resolution of the display is not exactly one-to-one with the frequency, and its support modes are limited.

For your Display2, if you want to modify its resolution, make sure it supports the corresponding resolution/frequency combination.

    • Go to Settings >> Display. Click Advanced Settings and scroll down to the very bottom of the advanced settings screen. Click Display adapter properties.
    • This will open the properties for the display adapter. In the Adapter tab, click the List all modes button. This will open a new window listing every single resolution that your display can support. Select it here and click OK followed by Apply on the properties window.

The current possible feasible recommendation is to try resetting the refresh rate.

Given that you mentioned that there is no such option in the drop-down menu.

So, it seems that one possible way is to try to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the corresponding display.

Update drivers manually in Windows - Microsoft Support

This is not guaranteed to work, and if you cannot revert to the default refresh rate, it is recommended to consult the instruction manual for your device or consider contacting the hardware manufacturer.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

It's possible that changing the frequency of Display 1 to 60Hz interlaced has caused compatibility issues with your hardware, resulting in the fluctuation you are observing. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Reboot your computer and check if the option for 59.4Hz reappears in the drop-down menu.
    2. If the option does not reappear, try updating your graphics driver to the latest version from the manufacturer's website. This may resolve any compatibility issues that are causing the problem.
    3. If updating the graphics driver does not resolve the issue, try resetting the display settings to default. To do this, right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings". Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings" then click on "Display adapter properties". In the Properties window, select the "Monitor" tab and click on "Properties". In the Properties window, click on "Driver" and then click on "Roll Back Driver" to reset to the previous version of the driver.

To change the resolution of Display 2 to 1920 x 1080, follow these steps:

    1. Open the display settings for your operating system.
    2. Locate the settings for Display 2 and click on "Display Resolution."
    3. Choose 1920 x 1080 as the resolution for Display 2.
    4. Save the changes and exit the settings.

Please note that changing the resolution of Display 2 may not have any effect on the fluctuation issue on Display 1, as these are likely separate issues.
