"Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts" Not present.

Hello,

I have a user who would like to use the fingerprint reader for a 3rd party application. There was another user that was able to accomplish this by turning off the "Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts" option listed below all the Windows hello sign in options.

This is not present on their machine and I can't seem to find any information about why it wouldn't be there.

The user is running Windows 10 22H2 and is current with updates. The PC is older. I believe it is a 6th gen intel processor, so I'm not sure if this is related to TPM. I am running a newer PC (11th gen) and I also do not see that option for me.

Is there some way to modify this setting through the registry or does anyone know why it may not be present?

I don't want to use a Microsoft account to log into the computer, but I do want to use one in the store. So how do I prevent the store asking me for biometrics?

That setting will usually only be present if the user logs into Windows with a Microsoft Account, do you log in with a Microsoft Account?

    Open the Settings App.

    Go to Accounts.

    Thank you Dave,

I have checked and that PC does not have an account setup in the Access Work or school section. The user I'm helping has been out the past few days so I have been unable to get that added there yet. I'll update once I am able to test. But I believe this is likely the solution.

Thank you again for explaining when that option shows.
