[SOLVED][WORKAROUND] Problems after Reset this PC - Bypass Let's connect you to network W10

Hi all,

I initiated the process of "Reset this PC". But now I am stuck on the screen "Welcome to First Orion! Enter your First Orion email." and is asking me for a email:

  • I tried to put my Office365 account, but it says is incorrect
  • I tried to put my Skype account (GMAIL), but it says is incorrect
  • I tried to put a Random account, but it says is incorrect

So I remember that on the old days, if you don't have internet connection it just go forward and it would ask you inside the windows. I disconnected the Ethernet cable (my PC don't have wireless connection), and I was taken back to the Network Screen. But it won't let me go further, so I tried to bypass the screen "Let's connect you to a network" to install windows 10 on my machine. So far I tried to do the following:

  • ALT + F4 - My machine just tries to connect to the internet even though I'm not connected to any internet connection.
  • SHIFT + F10 - Open command prompt and type "taskkill /F /IM oobenetworkconnectionflow.exe" but that also makes my machine try to connect to the internet.
  • SHIFT + F10 - Open command prompt and type "taskmgr" that opens taks manager and I end the task for "Networkconnectionflow", but the machine still tries to connect to the internet.
  • SHIFT + F10 - Open command prompt and type "OOBE\BYPASSNRO", it said that it didn't exist. So I just type "regeddit" and went directly to the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> OOBE" to add the key myself "BypassNRO" "DWORD" with value "1". And restarted the machine with success.
  • SHIFT + CTRL + F3 - I went on the AUDIT mode, tried to create my user manually in order to have a local user created.

My "Windows10" installation came from an update of a "Windows7 Ultimate" which gave me a "Windows10 Pro" version (I saved the W10 Key on a file just in case, but I don't think I still have the W7 Key (I will need to go deep on old emails to check it))

Installation Info:

  • Edition: Windows 10 Pro
  • Version: 21H2
  • OS Build: 19044.2728
  • Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0

Please can anyone assist what do I do in this situation?

It is better to download the image and installed the windows from scratch?

Your assistance will be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

So basically with the MediaCreationTool I could re-install the windows, after I put the key it detected the correct windows version.
I hit the same problem, however turning off the ethernet cable I was able to bypass the screens.
    Thanks once again!
I still don't understand why MS is forcing the connection to internet.

    Hey TamalGuha,

Thanks for your reply. I already created the Bootable Pen using the MediaCreationTool.
I will try running it and I will update the post.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi there,

This is Tamal trying to help you with the issue.

Yes, you can go you with the fresh installation. You may not need reactivate windows upon installation as the process is automated. You can still use your windows 7 key during installation or proceed with choosing I don't have a key option.

I think your reset was not complete or might be initial installation was done as a domain joined computer. You have tried all the good things and those should have worked, but as that is not happening better go with the fresh installation after creating an installation media.
