Why wont my volume keys work?

After an update (I'm not sure which one), my volume keys on my keyboard have stopped working. The mute button works fine, and when I press the volume-up button or volume-down button it displays the slider increasing or decreasing the volume on-screen, however the sound coming from my laptop isn't changing unless I press the volume-down button to zero, then it mutes. I can only adjust the volume through the app or website by using the slider on screen with my mouse. I've tried every solution but nothing is fixing the problem.

    Hi Hayley-rose,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The actions associated to those function keys (F1 - D12) is not controlled by Windows, because the actions vary from PC to PC, it is a utility installed by the PC manufacturer that controls those keys.

If the key does not work, does pressing the Fn key + that key work?

    Hi Dave,

No, pressing the fn key with the volume key didn't work either. I watched some tutorials and adjusted the keyboard in the service setting as well as adjusting the device manager setting. That didn't work either, so I did a factory reset on my laptop and the issue is still there.
