win 11 computer cannot connect to server host computer's shared printer, also win 11. "Resource is on line but isn't responding to connection attempts". I have gone through multiple setting procedures but no success so far. When the printer was hosted on a win 10 machine it hosted the same printer just fine. But when the change to win 11 happened a few days ago no computer, win 11 or win 10 could connect to it. This is win 11 22H2. Error message with details below

You should not need to add gpedit to registry, there should be direct registry edits. But they change these so often they may be gone.

It still prints from the host computer, right? If so then those "can't print from USB" don't seem to apply.

Have you ever tried connecting the Brother printer to router via USB for network printing always on standby? Guide here: https://www.wikihow.com/Connect-a-USB-Printer-t...

    I found these links

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLP8cRYbTn0

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/brother-printers-may-not-work-in-windows-11-if-connected-via-usb/ https://www.ghacks.net/2021/10/12/brother-confirms-windows-11-printer-issues/ Apparently Brother and Microsoft have known about the issue(s) and everyone is waiting for a fix. I'd love to know if they are actualll working on one.

I may be banging my head against a wall. A lot of people a lot smarter than me are having trouble, so it is not wonder I am.

    Thanks again.

Thanks but most of these steps I have done several times. Occasionally they refer to gpedit which is not available and to regedit. In the image below, for example, my machines do not have Rpc over TCP (etc), as the image indicates, in the registry. I can add gpedit to windows 11 home but would it make a difference? I started with that and changed the setting to Rpc over names pipes on both computers, about 3 or 4 days ago and nothing happened, except a problem with printers being shown on the client pc and that let to a recovery operation for win 11. No small task. When the same problem occured on the Host pc the troubleshooter repaired it. On the client the troubleshooter failed.

Please don't feel I am ungrateful. I am not. But I feel like snoopy: going around in mad circles.

Whenever you make changes you can set a System Restore point so if necessary you can go back like a time machine to before the changes were made - even from the repair mode or bootable media if it won't start. Consider this your first line of defense: https://beebom.com/how-system-restore-windows-11/

Unfortunately sharing has been broken since they removed HomeGroup and sometimes it can't be fixed.

But that doesn't mean we can't try everything. You can try these additional fixes for sharing printer over network in Windows 11:

(Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially DO NOT INSTALL Restoro, PC Repair Tool and Reimage ads)

Well, turning printer sharing on and off does not work, no Firewall on Host makes no difference Network Discover and File and Printer sharing are allowed through Firewall. No change. I'm beat. No more ideas.
