Several games crash on the first loading screen after the main menu

Hello there,

Not all games crash, but games, including Grounded, Sackboy, Far Cry6, and most recently Monster Hunter Rise all crash the same way with slightly different error prompts. At first, the game runs up to the main menu just fine, you can even tweak all the settings from there. Then, when you start the game and it pops the loading screen, everything freezes and the game crashes out with Fatal Error prompt.

The following texts are the Errors received (apologies for the low-quality ones):

Grounded:

GPU Crashed or D3D Device Removed.

Use -d3ddebug to enable the D3D debug device.

Check log for GPU state information.

A GPU mini dump will be saved in the Crashes folder.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure:

The UE4-GjngerBread Game has crashed and will close

Fatal error!

Monster Hunter Rise:

runtime_il2cpp.exe - Fatal Application Exit

C:\Program

Files\WindowsApps\F024294D.50755C2F12831_10.0.4.0_x64_8ftyOb y30jkny\runtime_il2cpp.exe

"D:\engines\CRPKG\REACH\gitroot\runtime\modules\render\os\ \renderDeviceDX12.cpp" 287 Fatal D3D error (25)

I do not have the Error prompt for Far Cry 6 unfortunately, as all (except monster hunter) have been old issues I tried avoiding up until now.

I have tried everything I could to fix this but it was all pointless. As I have tried updating all drivers, installing DirextX12, reinstalling Visual Studio, installing the latest runtime (.NET 7), setting my PC Graphics settings to be on High-performance, putting my Nvidia GPU (GTX 1650 4GB) as my main GPU, resetting and formatting the PC, and finally reverting back to Windows 10 and when that failed too, I tried one last time on Windows 11 again. Now that it restricts me from playing Monster Hunter Rise, I am reaching out as my friends with less capable hardware run all the mentioned games seamlessly. Other games, such as Control, GTA IV, God of War, and even recent ones such as Lost in Random, all run without the slightest of issues.

For the reference, the following is a short summary of my MSI PC specifications copied from DirectX Diagnostic Tool:

Completely remove Sackboy. Then see if the other games still crash.

If they do, please send over updated minidumps.

You could be having a problem with your graphic card drivers being out of date.

You will want to make sure your computer is currently up to date.

This can be done by typing update in the search on the taskbar and opening the page.

Update the computer. Click on additional or advanced options on the same page and update if necessary.

Uninstall and reinstall the Graphic drivers

Please type Device Manager in the search and open the page.

Click on Display Adapters. You should now see the Drivers.

You will want to right-click on the Display driver and uninstall it. not the NVIDIA Drivers if equipped on your computer).

Then restart the computer. Windows will reinstall the driver and many times fix the problem.

    _____

You will want to go to the NVIDIA website and download the most recent drivers. Here is a link to their support webpage.

    ___

If you continue to have a problem, go to the maker of your computer such as Dell, HP, etc. It is their responsibility to make sure your computer has the proper drivers so their computer will work with Windows. You will want to download the most current Display Adapter drivers. Their support can assist you if you have a problem.

Please let me know if you continue to have a problem.

Dear Cindy, apologies for my late reply.

Firstly, I will delete and reinstall the Sackboy game. Even though I have done it before, but hopefully this time it will work. As for the other games, none of them had minidump files. Grounded, for example, I just reinstalled it, yet it simply crashes and closes without even giving an error code prompt. Moreover, I have noticed that when I am in a call in discord, it closes the call along with crashing. So as of now, I am trying to fix three games, these are the results:

    1. Grounded simply crashes.
    2. Sackboy is the same, but I will reinstall it.
    3. Monster Hunter Rise gives me this error code:

    runtime_il2cpp.exe - Fatal Application Exit

    C:\Program

    Files\WindowsApps\F024294D.50755C2F12831_10.0.4.0_x64_8ftyOb y30jkny\runtime_il2cpp.exe

    "D:\engines\CRPKG\REACH\gitroot\runtime\modules\render\os\ \renderDeviceDX12.cpp" 287 Fatal D3D error (25)

    Thank you for your help.

I have checked 6 of the minidumps and all of them have the same error. It is being caused by this error.

    APPLICATION_FAULT_8000_Sackboy-Win64-Shipping.exe!Unknown

I would recommend deleting this app and seeing if you still have a problem. You can also check to see if Stackboy has an updated version of the app.

    Best Wishes,

    Cindy

    Hello Cindy,

Thank you for taking your time and replying to me.

These were the minidump files I found:

    Crashes.zip

The zip contains 15 folders, each representing a crash, hence, including a minidump file. The other minidump files created by previous crashes were wiped out after formatting my PC recently.
