2023-04-12T10:04:57+00:00 Hello! My name is Mostafa, and I’m an independent advisor and a long-time Microsoft user.
I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.
Please follow the steps below:
- Check if WiFi is available in Device Manager by pressing Windows + X, and selecting Device Manager to open Device Manager in Windows 10 or Surface. Click Network adapters category to expand it. Double-click the wireless network adapter or network controller, click Driver tab, and click Disable Device. Restart your computer, and check if the WiFi settings are missing problem has been fixed.
- If the Wifi option in Windows Settings disappears out of the blue, this can be due to your card driver’s power settings. Therefore, to get the Wifi option back, you will have to edit the Power Management settings.
- Go back to Device Manager, right click on the network adapters node, select Scan for hardware changes. See if the WiFi adapter reappears in the list. If it still doesn’t appear, click on View> Show hidden devices, see if your WiFi adapter is there, possibly uninstall it and then restart the laptop.
- Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot. Scroll down. Click Network adapters. Click Run the Troubleshooter. When complete, restart to see if the problem is resolved.
Regarding your issue with DPS service not starting and Network and internet settings not opening, you can try modifying Diagnostic Policy Service Registry Permissions by following these steps:
- Simultaneously press the Windows + R keys to open run command box.
- Type regedit and press Enter.
- At the left pane, navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DPS\Parameters
- Right click on the Parameters key and select Permissions.
- Click Add, type your account name/username in the search box and click OK.
Please check and try Fredy's solution in the older thread below with the same problem if it helps.

Mostafa
