Shift keys (both) are flickering on and off constantly.

This happened out of nowhere. Both my shift keys will be on and off constantly. This is doesn't seem to be sticky keys or filter keys as I've disabled the settings for them. I've even renamed sethc.exe. I've tried a new keyboard, no avail either.

I'm on Windows 10 and I do updates frequently. Is there a fix for this?

    I'm also having this issue, which started after updating my PC to the last three builds of Windows 11. At first, I thought it was only happening on my PC, but it also occurs in safe mode.

    I've unfortunately tried all of the solutions, but it did not work. The on-screen keyboard is still showing me that my shift buttons are flickering.

    Might there be more things I can try?

    Good day! I'm Raniel. I understand your frustration regarding this issue and I'll do my best to help.

    Just to clarify, did you make any changes to your machine before encountering this issue (like installing third party apps, recent updates, etc..)? Do you also encounter it when you access your account via safe mode?. Please see the steps under "From the sign-in screen": https://support.microsoft.com/help/12376/window...

    Kindly run the Keyboard troubleshooter first: Go to Start > Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshoot > Keyboard > select Run Troubleshooter.

    Another option is to reinstall your keyboard driver:

    1. Open command prompt using your admin rights then type "devmgmt. msc" on the command prompt window to open Device Manager
    2. Expand Keyboards > right click on your keyboard driver and select Uninstall device
    3. Select the option to Delete the driver software for this device check box > Uninstall.
    4. Perform a clean boot: https://support.microsoft.com/help/929135/how-t..., then reinstall the keyboard driver by going to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates.
    5. Go back to Device Manager. Click on Actions and select scan for hardware changes, then check again

    If that didn't work, kindly enable the "built-in" administrator account to isolate the issue:

    1. On your search bar, type command prompt and select "run as administrator"
    2. On the command prompt window, type net user administrator /active:yes and press Enter
    3. Reboot your machine, then login to the built-in admin account, and check if you'll encounter the same issue.

    Note: If you don't encounter the issue on the built-in administrator account, I suggest that you create a new user account (go through the steps under "My computer is in a workgroup") . Please refer to this article as a guide: https://support.microsoft.com/help/14039/window...
