.psd files won’t display as thumbnails

I’m looking for an app that will display .psd files as thumbnails in File Explorer. I installed Sagethumbs to do this but I didn’t have a positive result. Some files displayed and done did not. Additionally, my .ai files are now without their branded Adobe icons. Looking for any additional fixes to viewing .psd as thumbnails.

    Hi,

I had the same issue then realised that Sagethumbs has a default setting to preview PSD files up to 100mb.

If your files are larger they will not preview.

You can change the max preview file size in the settings.

I am too searching for a solution, I installed Sage Thumbs on my Windows 11 and it does not show the content of the .PSD files as images instead it is just a blank. Pictus 1.7 also didn't work.

It's also mentioned somewhere that it works together with XnView so I installed SageThumbs and reinstalled it after I added xnview but nothing changed.

I am currently trying to contact the developer to see what this is about.

I found my solution. Download and install Pictus. Now, I see (in my preview pane) a small preview pic of my .psd image. https://poppeman.se/pictus/

PHOTOSHOP SIDE NOTE: After install of Pictus, you may notice that some of your .psd files seem to have some sort of weird white shape in the preview.

This appears when you have saved a selection with your marching ants. If so, open the file in PS and delete any unneeded masking channels, (in the Channels Panel) then resave the file. You should now have a mini pic of your .psd file when you browse through your finder.

Thank you for this nugget of info! Had never used Sagethumbs though saw lots of recommendations. Increasing the preview size fixed the .psd files I could not get a preview on after trying other suggestions.
