My computer had been constantly pestering me about how windows has an update available. I finally caved a couple days ago because the update would leave me computer unable to sleep or hibernate. I let it update and shutdown and when I woke up the next morning my computer was unable to connect to the internet. It was able to connect to my router but it wouldn’t connect to the internet. Other devices connected to the same router have no issue.

    Hey, how you doing?

Thank you for contacting us and welcome to the Microsoft Community.

My name is Vitor. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

When completing each step, check the result of the procedure/command. Not being solved, perform the next step.

Reset IP and clear DNS cache

    1. Click "Search" in Windows bar and type "cmd".
    2. Right click and select "Run as administrator" and "Yes".
    3. Type the following commands:

Type netsh winsock reset and select Enter.

Type netsh int ip reset and select Enter.

Type ipconfig /release and select Enter.

Type ipconfig /renew and select Enter.

Type ipconfig /flushdns and select Enter.

    Try Network Reset

    1. Click "Start" in Windows bar and type "Settings".
    2. In sequence Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset.
    3. On the network reset screen, click Reset Now and Yes.

    Network troubleshooter

    1. Click "Start" in Windows bar and type "Settings".
    2. Select System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    3. Under "Other", select "Network Adapter" and "Run".
    4. Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

    Restart your computer.

    Thanks

    Vitor S.

Same issue here but i found a way. still is not life long solution because you have to repeat it every single time when it happen the next time. -

First you have to go to “windows” before click “restart” hold the “shift key” and press “restart” and keep hold the “shift key” then blue page will show up after a sec, now chose “troubleshoot” then “advanced options” then “uninstall updates” then “uninstall latest quality update”. Then it will restart and show up to enter your own password… if its locked then press continue - last step press uninstall the quality update after it done press okay or done and thank for using this method hope it helps sorry for my english by the way i am not that good. 💛🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

    Hello Vitor,

The Windows 10 update was installed on my desktop pc on January 9. Since then my computer cannot connect to the internet. The error I get is “Ethernet doesn’t have a valid IP configuration.” Every other device (phones, tablets, laptops) is connecting without a problem so I know it’s not my router.

I tried every step you listed and many others including disconnecting the Ethernet cable at both ends and restarting the router. Nothing works. I have tried uninstalling the update but get an error every time.

My network card is an Intel 82567LF-2.

    Any other ideas?

I'm also having this same problem with my motherboard network adapter. Luckily I still have one of those USB WI-FI adapters to connect my computer, but I would much prefer using my ethernet port. I also noticed some issues with my Microsoft wireless keyboard being funky as if the drivers for it no longer work. Anyways, I just installed February's Monthly cumulative update just now and they still didn't fix the issues just mentioned.
