Hi Rach_463,
That is correct, those grey blocks indicate the image file is corrupted, if the same file on the C drive is not showing those grey squares, it is possible there is a problem with the USB you are copying the image files onto.

Hi there,
I'm wondering if someone could help me?
I am trying to transfer high resolution images to a USB stick. I'm just trying to back all the images up to ensure that I have a second copy.
All the images are downloaded to by laptop and all open correctly, however when I transfer them to the USB either they are very poor resolution or some of the image is missing (grey screen).
Is there anything that I should check on my laptop before trying again (new drivers etc) or could the problem be the USB stick?
Any help would greatly be appreciated, it is a couple thousand images in all.
Thank you

Hi Rach_463,

Hi Dave, they are appearing on both.
I just tried to copy again on a sample of 110, grey blocks appeared on about 20 images (appears on the thumb nail and the full sized image).
And in two I got a error message saying that the file my have become corrupted or the format is not supported. They are jpeg images. Don't know if that helps.
Thanks
Hi Rach_463,
Thank you for that information.
You should not need to drag the images individually to the USB, are the grey blocks appearing on the thumbnails of the images after copying them to the USB, or if you open the images are the grey blocks showing on the fill size images?
Thanks for replying @davem121
As there is alot of images I'm dragging the folder containing all the images from pictures in the C drive to the USB stick in file explorer. Have done multiple times, have even tried just coping 5 images at a time to see if that helps but still getting some with either all grey or partly grey blocks appearing.
Have wiped the USB of all images and started again to see if it helps. But still getting the same problem.
Should I try individually dragging each image?
Thanks so much
Hi Rach_463,
I am Dave, I will help you with this.
What method are you using to transfer the images to the USB, are you just dragging them from the Pictures folder on your C drive to the USB in File Explorer?
That method just createsa1 for1 exact copy of the files on the USB and will not affect the quality of the images.
