I just bought a new blue yeti microphone from somebody off fb marketplace which said it worked perfectly, but when i plug it in, it lights up but my computer doesn’t recognize any usb being plugged in. i’ve gone to device manager and tried adding legacy hardware but it says it can’t due to the function driver not being specified for this instance. i’m not sure what to do but i’d like to get my mic to work with my device. Thanks

    Ok, let's see.

Is this the audio driver you downloaded? If not, please download and install it. https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/GamingNB/Ima...

If it still doesn't work, please download and install the chipset driver too: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/GamingNB/Dri...

If it still doesn't work, consider a repair install and see if it helps:

To perform a repair installation of Windows 10 using the Windows Media Creation Tool:

The following steps should be done on a working Windows computer:

Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Run the tool and select "Create installation media for another PC."

Choose your language, edition, and architecture (32 or 64-bit) and select "Next."

Choose "USB flash drive" as the media to use for the installation and select "Next."

Connect a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space to your computer.

Select the USB flash drive you want to use, and then select "Next."

The tool will then download the required files and create the installation media.

    =====================================================

Now these steps will  be done on your problematic computer:

Go to the USB drive via File Explorer, locate and run the Setup.exe file. Ideally, you should disconnect all USB and Bluetooth devices other than mouse and keyboard. Disable any 3rd party antivirus program. Disconnect the internet.

Once you run the Setup.exe file, choose the Install option, and the choose the option that keeps your files and apps.

Glad to hear it works on a different computer.

Back on your problematic computer, if trying different usb port doesn't help, I think next step is to manually install the audio driver and let it override whatever it is installed now.

You can go to the computer's manufacturer support site to download the audio driver and install it.

If you need help finding the driver, please type msinfo32.exe in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, when launched, show me a screenshot. Thanks!

    Hello Sam, thi sis Emily.

When the light lit up on the mic, is it solid or flashing?

Any chance you can try the Yeti mic on a different computer just to make sure the mic itself is working?

Can you also hold down windows + R keys, then type in mmsys.cpl and hit enter, then go to the Recording tab, is Yeti showing up there?

I found and downloaded the latest audio driver plus i did a bios update. when everything restarted i plugged it in and it still doesn’t show up on the mmsys.cpl action when in the recording tab. the light on the mic is solid green/red depending on if muted or not and the toggles all work on the other side too. It also still says i’m unable to install new legacy hardware from the device manager(USB Audio OEM Device) because “a function driver was not specified for this device instance”. Not sure what that means either but that’s one thing that i read to do online as well.
