How to fix minecraft bedrock unable to locate game files

I install Minecraft for Windows. However, as pictured in the attachments, the ability to choose an install path for it is not possible. The install process seems to progress fine, but pressing play will open the game for a split second before closing, with the error (Unable to locate game files) appearing. This error is also seen on the Xbox App installation itself. (Note: Java Edition is completely unaffected by this, and functions normally)

Has this issue been resolved yet? I just attempted to play Minecraft bedrock edition after not playing it for a few months and I am now having the exact same issue. I tried every method mentioned in this post and still can't get it to work.

Hello! My name is Mostafa, and I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.

I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue. The error message "Unable to locate game files" in Minecraft Bedrock usually means that the game files are missing or moved.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. heck if the game files are still in their original location. The default location for Minecraft Bedrock Edition on Windows is %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang .

If the game files are not in their original location, try moving them back to their original location.

    1. Ensure that both the Xbox App and Minecraft Bedrock are up to date. Check for updates in the Microsoft Store, Xbox App, and in-game.
    2. If you still get the error message, try uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

I hope the above steps helped you. In case of additional questions, reach out back to me, and I will be happy to help and try my best to resolve your issue. Thank you.

    Best,

    Mostafa

I'd like to chip in here cause I've been having this issue too.

I used Everything and found the Minecraft for Windows files are kept in "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_1.20.4102.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe" when the Launcher installs the game files there.

Even when moving the files to the location you mentioned, it still says "Failed to launch game", without the popup saying "unable to locate game files".

I tried checking for updates, verifying and repairing too. Didn't fix the issue.
