RFID reader for Windows - is there a standard with a a Windows driver already installed?

Is there a USB RFID-reader for Windows..?

Like a web-cam that just connects via USB and then already works with a Windows driver. I am looking for an RFID reader that connects to USB and provides ID-information in some format that could be accessed by an application through e.g. VBA using a dedicated API.

Any suggestions?
