Restart or shutdown

I have seen a lot of Windows users don't shutdown or restart thier PCs at least at the end of the day and that creates some of low performance or not responding to some commands. I keep telling them please restart it or shutdown so the O.S will re-arrange it's files and fixes what was damaged.

Am I right? and which one is better, restart or shutdown?

Thanks,

Qahtan

    Hello Qahtan,

My name is Nada an independent advisor, and I'm here to help you.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I will try my best to assist you.

The best recommendation is to restart the computer at least once a day as it enables Windows to clean up files, discard temp files, and install updates. It also cleans up the RAM and the processor cache.

Shutting down is environmentally friendly and is good for the battery but, when it comes to the device's performance, a restart is much better.

Feel free to reply if you still need further assistance, and I'll be more than happy to assist you.

And not restating a computer for a many days will not effect the Windows performance?

That's correct. Not restarting a computer, even for many days, will not affect Windows performance.

In the early days of Windows, it might have been a good idea to shutdown a computer every night. However, today Windows is much more sophisticated, so shutting down every night is not necessary. As I wrote, it's a matter of choice. Good arguments for and against.

Nevertheless, if a computer is behaving strangely, sometimes a restart will restore the computer to proper behavior.

Whether or not to shutdown or restart your computer at the end of the day is a matter of choice. There are good arguments in favor and against, and there's no right or wrong answer.

When a computer is shutdown, power to the computer is turned off. If you want to restart the computer, you have to press the Power button. When a computer restarts, power to the computer is not turned off. Instead, it immediately restarts without your having to press the Power button.
