How to get my Documents folder back, without Onedrive

I don't want Onedrive - it took over my laptop and I just want to save documents on my laptop in my Documents or Pictures folders. So I uninstalled Onedrive, and now my Documents folder has disappeared. I can still access my files but I have to search for them and it's slowing down my work. Any ideas how I can reinstate a simple, straightforward, Documents and Pictures folder like I had before Onedrive got involved?

Thanks Mostafa. I can't install Onedrive now - went to Google play and it's there but the Install button is greyed out.

All I want is to get a Documents folder back on the Home menu! Sounds simple, but apparently not. All my Documents are still in my laptop, I've tried without Wifi and they are all still there, but the yellow Documents folder icon has gone. When I search for Documents I get a blue icon instead, and I can open it but can't move it. So frustrating.

    Thanks anyway.

Thanks for trying to help. Onedrive is definitely uninstalled and not running. My documents are in my computer somewhere but the folder is no longer in the 'Home' menu, where it used to be between downloads and pictures. I can search for 'Documents' and get a blue icon, not the yellow one. I tried following your instructions to move it to the desktop but no success.

A couple of Word files are in the Home menu, for some reason, I'm sure they weren't there before. To access the Documents folder I have to open one of those files and follow the locations back to Documents, then I can open the folder.

Why do they have to change things!

    Thanks anyway.

Hello! My name is Mostafa, and I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.

I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Please install Onedrive, go to Onedrive settings, click on Manage backup and toggle off all the backups. If all folders still do not appear, please go to one drive and copy all the folders from the Documents folder to your PC document folder. Now if you want, you can uninstall Onedrive.

If the above steps do not help, reach out to me, and I will be happy to help and try my best to resolve your issue. Thank you.

    Best,

    Mostafa

    Hi Anne,

When you uninstall OneDrive, it may cause the synchronization settings for your Documents and Pictures folders to revert to their defaults. You can try to sign in via this link https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/signin/ and download your files.

    I hope this help.

    Best,

    Mostafa

Copy Your documents To the desktop [For now]. Either drag and drop Or ctrl+A then ctrl+C then on desktop ctrl+v

I think a few settings need to be changed.

First check task manager too see if OneDrive is still open. Ctrl+alt+del _ task manager. look for OneDrive. If its still running Stop 🛑 here and message back to let me/ us know.

    Search

    environment value

    Change OneDrive Value To Documents

Open Press ctrl+R Put in regedit.exe

Press ctrl F search for OneDrive replace the value

    Press ctrl+R put cmd.exe

    Type

    Set

Look for the onedrive value make sure the spelling is the same

    Type

    SET onedrive=

    SET Documents=C:\users\USERNAME\Documents

Let us know how it goes Worst case scenario You can make a shortcut to the Documents folder.
