Photo/Video Import Freezing while trying to import from iPhone

I am trying to download the pictures from my iPhone onto my computer (running Windows 10). In order to do this, I right-clicked "Apple iPhone" in the file explorer, and hit "Import pictures and videos." Things proceeded as normal, scanning my phone for all photos, giving me a number of how many, and the option to import and label them manually or just use my regular settings. I made sure it was on regular settings, hit next, and it froze, looking like the attached image. After leaving it for a few minutes, I quit the application (from the taskbar, since the application itself is frozen), and then tried again. Exact same result. I restarted my computer and my phone, and tried again. Still the same result, and I have now been waiting on it for forty minutes. I successfully backed up my iPhone to iTunes as usual, and I backup and download photos from my phone with this exact method every month. This has never occurred before -- my best guess is that a recent Windows or Apple update broke the system. Am I missing something? Is there any way to fix it now without having to install a new application? Or do I have to just wait until there's an update that fixes this bug?

Hello, I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

    1. Try these fixes for known issue of iPhone freezing during photo import:

    https://www.technipages.com/microsoft-photos-cr...

    1. You might also want to consider other import methods for pictures from iPhone to Windows. Here are all other ways to import pictures from iPhone to PC:

    1. If nothing else works you can install OneDrive to iPhone and set it as default Camera Roll save location so that pictures are immediately sync'd to your PC via OneDrive where you can manage them without constant problems with USB import.

    The method is explained here:

    1. If that doesn't work then you can similarly use iCloud installed to PC to sync your files including Pictures:
