Sending faxes using Windows 11.

If you want to send documents as faxes in Microsoft 365 Word, then you need to install Windows Fax Printer Driver or Fax Service to send faxes. For this, you can refer to the following steps to enable Windows Fax feature in Windows 11.

1. Navigate to the Windows 11 Settings > Applications > Optional Features page.
2. Click the View Features button next to Add an Optional Feature.
3. In the dialog box that appears, scroll down the list to view the Windows Fax and Scan entry.
4. Check the check box next to the entry and click the Next button.
5. From here, click the Install button to install Windows Fax and Scan.
6. Once the installation is complete, restart your computer. When you want to send a Word document as a fax, you can click File - Print - Printer - Fax

After clicking Add an Optimal Feature, Add Windows Fax and Scan is not an option.

I have been told that Windows Fax and Scan has been disabled in Windows 11, forcing you to use an online fax service, which I refuse to do for security reasons.

I don't know what version of Windows 11 you have but in my version Win 11 Pro, pretty much most of the steps/settings you gave don't exist.

Mine doesn't even have a clue what Windows Fax and Scan is.

does windows fax and scan require attaching phone line to the computer, or does it send fax over the internet?

and if the latter, how does recipient get it if recipient does not or cannot use internet?

The first step in the instructions after getting it installed is to connect a phone line. How do you send a fax when you do not have a phone line?
