I have a Gateway NV76 R laptop, can I add TPM 2.0 chip to it? I want to download Windows 11 but I need TPM 2.0. and I will also need to install a new processor. The Intel (R) Core (TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40 GHz is what it has now. Windows 11 requires a processor higher than what is on my laptop now.

    Hi Roger,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

A TPM chip can be added if the motherboard has a slot.

Your processor is Gen 3, but Windows requires at least Gen 8. Some processors also have inbuilt TPM, so you will not have to buy it separately, called Intel Platform Trust technology, so you will not have to buy TPM chip separately.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.

I have a desktop pc. On the motherboard, you most likely have components labelled with printed text like for a fan CPU fan (or something similar). For the tpm what do I need to search for?
