Speakers have been muted for over a week muted since last updates. It says that I need a new ms.app to fix it. I don't know where to get that because my Microsoft profile has been messed since the March updates. I keep getting an Error message when trying to create a new profile that says Microsoft has been notified of the problem. Nothing is working the same since the March Microsoft updates. I have to use One Drive to access previous files/folders. I can access basics, but no sound.

Hello! My name is Cristiano. I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you.

To get your sound turned back on, we can try a few troubleshooting steps. Since you mentioned that your speakers have been muted, let's start by unmuting them.

    1. Locate the speaker icon in the taskbar at the bottom right corner of your screen. It looks like a small speaker. If you can't find it, try expanding the hidden icons by clicking on the upward arrow.
    2. Once you find the speaker icon, right-click on it and select "Open Volume Mixer" or "Open Sound settings."
    3. In the Volume Mixer or Sound settings window, make sure the volume slider for your speakers is set to an appropriate level. Also, check if the mute option is enabled. If it is, click on it to unmute the speakers.

If unmuting the speakers didn't solve, we can move on to the next step.

you mentioned needing a new ms.app to fix the sound problem. However, there is no specific "ms.app" related to fixing sound issues in Windows. Let's try a more general approach.

    1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard (the one with the Windows logo) and type "Troubleshoot" in the search bar. Select the "Troubleshoot settings" option from the search results.
    2. In the Troubleshoot settings, scroll down and locate the "Playing Audio" section. Click on it to expand.
    3. Click on the "Run the troubleshooter" button. Windows will now scan for sound-related problems and attempt to fix them.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the troubleshooter. It may ask you to perform certain actions or suggest potential fixes.

If the troubleshooter doesn't resolve the issue, let's address the problem with your Microsoft profile and the error message you mentioned.

    1. Open your preferred web browser and go to the official Microsoft website.
    2. Look for the "Sign In" or "Account" option on the website and click on it.
    3. Try signing in with your existing Microsoft account credentials. If you encounter any errors or issues, there should be an option for password recovery or account support on the sign-in page. Click on that and follow the instructions provided to regain access to your account.
    4. Once you've regained access or resolved any account-related problems, restart your computer.

After restarting, check if the sound is working. If not, there may be deeper underlying issues related to the March updates. In such cases, it is recommended to seek further assistance from a professional technician who can diagnose and resolve the problem more specifically.

    Good luck!
